At Rise to Shine Education Foundation (RTSEF), we believe that when a woman rises, she lifts her family and creates a pathway for generations to thrive.

Through our Women’s Empowerment Program, women gain more than financial support they build social capital. By coming together, endorsing one another, sharing knowledge, resources, and opportunities, women create stronger groups where every member has a voice, agency, and the collective power to improve her economic future. This spirit of solidarity helps women move beyond isolation and limited access to capital, networks, and opportunity toward lasting

economic resilience.

The Kowesi Smart Ladies are a powerful example. With RTSEF’s support, they launched a catering business, mobilized their community for additional resources, and consistently reinvested their earnings. Within a year, their small venture had grown into a thriving enterprise.

Today, members are better able to pay school fees, provide food and clothing, and meet essential family needs. Their success is not only transforming lives today—it is laying a stronger foundation for the next generation.

In Siaya County, the Kayombe Women Group is writing a similar story. After identifying catering as an opportunity, the women raised funds to purchase chairs and are now mobilizing resources for tents to expand their services. Their determination to invest together reflects the ownership, solidarity, and resilience at the heart of sustainable empowerment.

These stories remind us that true empowerment is not simply about giving women resources; it is about helping them build the relationships, confidence, collective strength, and economic power to create their own future.
